Scandinavian Obi (Kimono-belt)

Just amazing! I got pictures from Rapis in Tokyo. Finally she has succeeded to make the hand-made OBI (kimono-belt  ca 400cm x 30cm) by the Scandinavian vintage fabric. This beautiful yellow rose’s fabric comes from Re-DiZaIn. Rapis told me that now she has been re-making her  second OBI with the such a cool and modern design`s fabric named “Tsunami “from Marimekko. Oh... I can`t wait to see her pictures! I always ask her to send the it with the FULL BODY, but she does not… lol I know she is shy…. But don’t you want to see her whole Kimono style? Yes! Yes! Yes!

We have many kind of knot ways for the OBI. This   This way on the photo is called " Taiko-knot"and is most common knot.  Here is the You-TUBE - how do we knot "Taiko-Knot" !

Rapis-bag

The hat designer, also a friend of mine,  Rapis, she has sent me pictures for her new bag for 2010-auturm-vinter collection. lol
I think I may write about her on my blog before, I used to send Scandinavians fabrics to her every second months, and she has been re-arranging to Kimono, Kimono-belt and bags whatever with Scandinavian vintage fabrics. Unfortunately three of pictures which are sent by her are little bit small to see details this time, but can you see such a wonderful many tiny works? She has taken a line with the sequin and beads embroidery on flower motives. And the handle is made of the real black skin. Just amazing job!! I have sent the 5m fabrics from Borås fabrics as designed by Mona Björk for a couple weeks ago sa that I am really looking forward to seeing the picture how she will make the KIMONO belt with it!
Have a nice weekend!!

Scandinavian Kimono-socks

A couple months ago, I sent some 50-60tal scandinavian`s fabrics to one of my friends who is handle-named " Rapis" in Tokyo
Her main career is to design for from the classic and elegant hat to the casual cap.  But recently she is addicted to make the KIMONO accessories such as the TABI (kinono socks) or  the HAN-ERI (kimono collar). When I met her last summer in Tokyo,  she said  " It must be very interesting  if I made Tabi with the Scandinavian`s vintage fabric!! "
Now I got the pictures from her and am just amazing her great job!! Soooooo pretty, isn`t it?!

Now I got her new request! She wants to re-make an OBI (Japanese kimono-belt) with the vintage fabric!   Sounds so cool !!  But can you guess how much length does it need to make the OBI?  Yes, at least 3.5 meters.
oj oj... not easy to find such a long vintage fabric. But I will try it!!
